Hiking the Stanford Dish
On Sunday March 23 we enjoyed a gorgeous hike in a little bit of light rain. The greens were greener and the hikers were damper. In the middle of our hike, Theresa Chung ‘85 invited us to her home that borders the trail to have a tea and cookie break. Delightful!
Celebrating the Inauguration of Sarah Willie-LeBreton *and* Mountain Day!
On October 21st we combined our celebrations of Mountain Day and the inauguration of Sarah Willie-LeBreton, Smith College's 12th president, by taking a hike through Castle Rock State Park, and sharing apples and s'mores.
Hiking at Castle Rock
What a gorgeous day for a hike! We met early at the Robert Kirkwood Entrance and enjoyed this mild-to-moderate 3-mile loop with some elevation, good shade, and amazing views.
Mountain Day Celebration Hike
A few of us took a long drive and a less-long hike in Portola Redwoods State Park. Our intrepid hikers climbed over downed trees and forded a shallow creek in an exciting day of waterfalls and redwoods.
Hiking at Mori Point
We gathered for a beautiful hike at Mori Point near Pacifica . It was about a 2.5-mile loop trail where some of scrambled to the highest peak to take in gorgeous views up and down the coast, and wandered to a lower point that made us feel like we were hanging over the breakers below. We then settled ourselves onto a grassy area and had a lovely group picnic.
Hiking at Mount Umunhum
It was a beautiful day above the clouds at Mount Umunhum! A small and happy trio hiked to the top of the of mountain, where we were met by another club members who was able to drive to the parking at the top of the trail and provide some refreshing treats!
Pulgas Ridge Hike
What a beautiful day for a hike! 7 Smith alums met up at Pulgas Ridge near Woodside and had a lovely time climbing up the ridge and finding some very funky purple algae.
Mountain Day Celebration Hike
On Sunday, October 9th we gathered to celebrate Mountain Day with an easy out-and-back hike on the Schilling Lake Trail located above the town of Woodside in the Thornewood Preserve. And extra special thanks to Donna Dong ‘13 (and her husband Will) and Indira Deonandan ‘08 for providing delicious sandwiches and drinks after our stroll through the woods.
